Neither am I a watchmaker, or an expert in any way, when it comes to details about watches, calipres etc. I just love watches, how they look, and the histories, connected to each watch brand.

Most divers are not sold to people who use them professionally. Most will end up as deskdivers, who will see a little water from showers and pools.
They should use sapphire, especially at that price.

Comex didn´t have problems issuing sapphire Sea-Dwellers to their divers, so I don´t think it is a big problem
