Re: Cyma Navystar Deluxe... It is 35mm, and was produced around 1960. The inner ring and markers are 14k white gold, and the interesting movement is a cal. R486. Olof Re: Cyma Navystar Deluxe... - hannover_dk - 14-09-2010 Ah - great picture of the movement. 486 looks very nicely made - the regulator typical and also the very big balance, which I think contributed to a rather low movement. So it was a bit earlier than I estimated. Definitely a collector’s item in hand wound watches of the sixties. Surely a watch, where you get a lot of value for money + a well functioning one, with 50 years of history behind it. br Re: Cyma Navystar Deluxe... - Joepete - 14-09-2010 Very lovely piece, Tony Do You know if there is a story behind the caseback decoration ? Re: Cyma Navystar Deluxe... - hannover_dk - 14-09-2010 Here is my guess – Sails on the see – with a C for Cyma? - Matches the name "Navystar" - but it is just a guess br Re: Cyma Navystar Deluxe... - Joepete - 14-09-2010 It is a good guess, Mr. Hannover Re: Cyma Navystar Deluxe... - Tony C. - 14-09-2010 I believe that your theories are correct. Cyma chose to develop a strong association with ships and the sea in the 1950s, as this ad suggests ("The beauty of naval architecture!"): ![]() While the Navystar was their best known model, they also had other models with seagoing themes, such as the "Clipper" (as in "Clipper ship"). |
