Vulcain ure?
#2
Vulcain is now part of the M.S.R. Group in Switzerland. Founded in 1858, Vulcain produced the world’s first mass-produced wrist alarm in 1948, the Cricket (fårekylling). The name came from the sound it made. Thus, the Cricket predates the Memovox by a couple of years.

Early models lack the “V” logo seen on most Vulcain watches from after 1958, their centenary year. In 1958, the company launched the first wrist alarm for women, the “Golden Voice.”

Vulcain used their own in-house calibre, the S2/80, a 12 ligne, 17-jewel lever movement of very high quality. The interesting feature is that the same winding stem winds either the watch or the alarm, depending on which way the crown is turned.

Today, early Crickets are mostly found in stainless steel and gold-filled. These go for USD 300 -500 in good condition, and seem to be increasing in value. 14K versions are very rare and usually cost USD 1200-1500.

Hope this helps,
