All the English recieved was a enormous debt . They were bankrupt at the end of the war . The help they recieved from USA was to stop a total collapse of their economy , there was nothing to build for at all . And Japan recieved the same aid as Germany . It was the only way to insure that another war did not follow . Germany as the biggest country with the biggest population could not be allowed to become once again the poor man in Europe . All of this and the break up of the British Empire was discussed at the Yalta meeting with Churchill - Roosevelt - Stalin . Roosevelt understood that to aviod another war he had to make Germany and Japan into big industrial nations . And he was of course right . Tradition for building is one thing you cannot take away from any population . Just look at Checoslovakia who supplied many weapons to the German and English armys because they had tradition for great engineering . Yet they had the reputation for building rubbish cars , like the old Skodas after the war . But just look at them today now they have modern factorys and money for development . According to Germanys Auto Blid , the build quality of skodas is higher than german built VW . People who forget history can never forsee the future Willy
