Its a little machine that keeps a automatic watch wound up , when you are not wearing the watch for longer than the power reserve in your watch . It saves you from having to set the date and time if the watch runs down . A winder is of no use to someone who wears the watch everyday . I would only buy one if i had a multi complication watch that could be difficult to set again . For most people they are a waste of space . Willy
