Lets not forget that it is the workmanship and finish of a watch that can raise it to a higher level . I do not believe that mass produced watches like Omega or Rolex will ever achieve this or want to achieve this . They just want to build reliable calibers that are easy to service .

I agree with what Geodoc says about Omega at least trying to do something new , and they deserve respect for that . Rolex refused the Co- Axel idea when George Daniels offered it to them . I think they did this because they are a very conservative brand , who would not take the risk . Rolex calibers are widly regarded as maybe the strongest and most reliable calibers made today . And even if Co-Axel could cut down on service time and cost it would not also follow that the caliber would be more reliable .

New ideas pop up all the time in the industry . But they have never made the reputation of the brand who invented them . It takes more than that to make a good watch . In the words of the Welsh poet T.S. Elliot .

BETWEEN THE IDEA AND THE REALITY FALLS THE SHADOW .

PS. Maybe they should use their efforts to invent a long life oil Icon_e_smile
